Here’s to cleaner journeys ahead with Circle K

Our nationwide delivery fleet is moving to HVO100 renewable diesel!

Our fleet is starting to travel on up to 90% carbon neutral fuel! Thanks to our milesBIO HVO100, which is Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil combined with cleaning miles diesel additive, our fleet will cut back on carbon emissions to the equivalent of taking over 2,000 cars off the road once the rollout is complete.

HVO alternative diesel offers an up to 90% reduction in carbon emissions, and through switching our truck fleet over to milesBIO HVO100, over a 12-month period, we will save approximately 9,047 tonnes of CO2 compared to using standard diesel.

This is equal to:

  • The average carbon footprint of over 718 Irish residents per year
  • 2,288 cars off the road-that’s more cars than the total parking spaces in Phoenix Park!
  • 2,500 Asian elephants in weight
  • Driving around the earth 904 times

We are the first fuel retailer in Ireland to power its national fleet of delivery vehicles with HVO renewable diesel, which is made from waste and by-products from the food industry. Circle K Dublin Port will be our first site to fuel our fleet with HVO alternative diesel, with work underway at Circle K locations in Galway and Cork, to ensure our full fleet of vehicles will be powered by milesBIO HVO100 early next year.

We’re excited to take another step towards more sustainable mobility.

  • What is milesBIO HVO100 made from?

milesBIO HVO100 is produced from fully renewable feedstock derived from vegetable oils, used cooking oil or other waste and by-products from the food industry.

milesBIO HVO100 also contains Circle K’s cleaning miles diesel additive, which takes care of keeping the fuel system, and above all the injection nozzles, clean. The cleaning action is very effective and means that the injection nozzles work more optimally. They will inject fuel into the engine more finely divided, so that it burns more completely.

  • Technical Information

Circle K’s milesBIO HVO 100 is produced using the byproducts and residues of biomass cultivation processes and production processes, which results in a carbon-neutral biomass. This means milesBIO HVO100 is a fossil-free biofuel made from waste and by-products from the food industry, not intended for human consumption.

On an average, a liter of fossil diesel results in a total CO2 emission of approximately 3,41 kg including production, transportation, and final combustion. As HVO renewable diesel uses byproducts and residues of biomass cultivation processes and production processes, it avoids their destruction that would result in higher CO2 emissions and significant environmental impacts, meaning the net contribution of HVO can be as low as approximately 0,35 kg CO2 equivalent per liter fuel.

milesBIO HVO100 is approved to meet standards set out in EN15940, which is the industry standard for the suitability of fuel for use in diesel vehicles.
