As of Saturday 28th March we want to confirm that all our stores and service stations will remain open to continue serving communities across Ireland.

It is vital that we support healthcare staff, emergency services and other essential service providers who are keeping us safe and keeping the country moving during this challenging time, as well as local communities in need of essential goods and services.

The safety of our colleagues and our customers is our number one priority and across our network, we have implemented protective measures to ensure the highest levels of hygiene and have introduced a social distancing program guiding customers on best practice.

In addition, our colleagues and our suppliers are working extremely hard to ensure we have what you need in store.

Customer FAQ’S

What is Circle K doing to prevent infections of the coronavirus at the stores?

We are continuing to follow the updates and guidance coming from the HSE, Department of Health and WHO on a daily basis with the safety of our colleagues and our customers our number one priority.

We have implemented a range of protective measures across our network to ensure appropriate levels of hygiene.

The most important measures taken in our stores are:

  • A stringent cleaning and disinfecting process for food prep areas, and when cleaning food and customer related areas in the store – such as tables, coffee machines, pin pads, fuel handles, toilets.
  • To ensure social distancing can be maintained in all sites, we have introduced at every site where there arewalk-ins, that there is always one person manning the door and ensuring only the maximum number of customers is allowed into the site at any one time.
  • Increased use of hand sanitizers as a complement to hand washing for both colleagues and customers.
  • Installation of cough and sneeze-proof protective perspex screens at our tills
  • Supply of gloves for customers at all our fuel pumps and coffee stations.
  • Signage with advice on how our customers can protect themselves and others.
  • Pop-up message at point of sale, reminding about frequent hand washing and cleaning.
  • Encouraging the use of card payments and contactless payment where possible.
  • A comprehensive social distancing program instructing customers on best practice.
  • Installation of pay at pump facilities at several sites.
  • Encouraging customers to scan their own purchases at our tills

Are your deli’s open?

All of our deli’s are open, serving ​fresh food for those of you on ​the move. ​We have extra measures in place to ​ensure our fresh food delis are clean, ​stocked and open for business.

How will we be alerted of any store closures or changes to opening hours?

In the event of any closures or changes to opening hours, we will provide information to customers via our website and social channels. Make sure to check the opening hours of your local forecourt before you make your journey www.circlek.ie/service-station/site-locator/

What is your store closure policy if one of your employees tests positive for COVID-19?

In instances where it has been confirmed an employee has been diagnosed with COVID-19, we will work closely with the HSE, National Public Health Emergency Team and the Department of Health to assess the risk to all remaining employees in the site. Working with the authorities, we will implement our COVID-19 Action Plan to have the site deep cleaned in adherence with HSE guidelines. This may involve site closures to allow for site cleaning to occur.

What are you doing to make sure stores are clean with COVID-19?

At Circle K, we are committed to ensuring a safe work environment for our colleagues and providing our customers with a safe, clean and friendly experience each time they visit our stores. We are reinforcing our cleaning and sanitation procedures with increased numbers of alcohol-based hand sanitizers stations available at our locations for customer and colleague use.  We are also ensuring that all store colleagues have access to protective gloves with clear guidelines on appropriate usage, and we are increasing cleaning supply stocks at all our locations.

We are reminding all colleagues of the importance of good cleaning on all work surfaces. We have also put controls in place at our pumps such as disposable gloves, so that our customers can feel confident in handling the equipment in these areas. Customers can also access complimentary hand sanitising equipment which is typically located near the ATM and/or toilets.

Additionally, we have taken several measures to educate our colleagues and customers on best practice to reduce exposure to illness through in-store educational information outlining the importance of:

Should your employees be wearing masks?

All Circle K employees will wear a face mask whilst working inside the service station.

Should your employees be wearing gloves?

Our store teams wear gloves to perform certain tasks, such as preparing food, and this has not changed. However, we are following the HSE guidelines advising not to wear gloves at the tills. Instead, we ask our employees who our handling cash to frequently wash their hands for 20 seconds and avoid touching their face.

Are you still accepting cash payments in store?

Circle K is especially mindful to keep serving all our customers in this time of need, regardless of their mode of payment. While the HSE have not recommended that retailers stop accepting cash, we encourage our customers to use card and contactless payment as much as possible. Our contactless limit has increased to €50.

Why did you stop accepting reusable cups at barista sites?

To reduce the risk of contamination, we have decided to suspend the use of reusable cups in our barista sites during this crisis.

Have you taken any measures to avoid bulk buying in your stores?

We haven’t taken any specific measures to avoid it, and we recommend that customers buy products as they would normally do.

Will you increase your prices as there becomes a shortage of products?

We will work to keep our stores stocked and prices fair. As one would expect, paper products, cleaning supplies and other items are in high demand as customers prepare for the ongoing impact of COVID-19. We are working with our suppliers to maintain those prices into us.

Do you have enough fuel for everybody?

We want to reassure customers that there is a sufficient fuel supply available for the weeks ahead and there is no need to overstock on fuel. We continuously work on our contingency plans and have been doing so for several weeks. We have strong relationships with our fuel suppliers.

What will happen to the fuel prices?

How we set the fuel prices will not change. The fuel prices will be dependent on the price of crude oil, our purchase price on petrol and diesel in the global refinery market, taxes and the cost of our operations.

Protecting our staff and our customers

We want to reassure you, that we are currently doing everything we can to ensure we can continue to serve our local communities with the highest level of safety and hygiene within our stores, safeguarding both you and our staff.

Help us prevent the spread of coronavirus:

  • We have significantly increased our frequency of cleaning and sanitising in our stations.
  • We have provided gloves at our pumps and coffee stations for your use.
  • Following advice from the HSE our staff follow strict instruction around regular washing and sanitisation of their hands and we encourage that our customers do the same.
  • We encourage customers to pay by card or contactless payment where possible.
  • We encourage our customers to apply social distancing guidelines as best as possible while in our stations, we recommend that you keep 2m apart.
  • We are working with our suppliers to ensure we continue to have full availability of stock at our stations and we currently don’t foresee any issues with supply.
  • We have rolled out more protective measures to protect our staff with the introduction of our till shields.
  • To ensure social distancing can be maintained in all sites where there are walk-ins, we have introduced a policy that there is one person manning the door during busy periods and ensuring only the maximum number of customers are allowed into the site at any one time.
