Topaz recognised as a Great Place to Work

Topaz, the country’s largest fuels and convenience retailer has been recognised as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland for the 11th time.

This year Topaz claimed 11th place in the list of Best Large Workplaces in Ireland in 2016. Topaz, which was acquired by the Couche-Tarde Group, late last year, was the only retailer to make the list and is once again the only fuels and convenience retailer on the list.

Topaz was presented with its award at the Great Place to Work Awards in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin last night (Wed 24th). In addition Group Corporate Services Director Paul Candon received the ‘Great Place to Work Ambassador Award 2016’.

Candon said the company’s employees were the company’s greatest resource and were central to its ongoing success.

“The key to our business is enhancing the customer experience and that is driven by our culture of innovation, by investing in the business, but most importantly by the professionalism and the enthusiasm of our employees. The last six months or so has been a very exciting time for the company, firstly with our acquisition of Esso and then becoming part of the Couche-Tard family. However our commitment to our customers remains constant”

“We have some very exciting plans for the future and we are looking forward to working together and bringing those plans to fruition We would like to thank all our  2,000 employees for their contribution in once again making Topaz a Great Place to Work. Awards like this are a vote of confidence in the way we do business” Candon said.

Great Place to Work Ireland is part of a global network with offices in 48 countries using the same assessment methodology to publish 45 country lists. According to GPTW the key defining feature of a great workplace is the level of trust that exists within it.

John Ryan, CEO of Great Place to Work Ireland, congratulated Topaz and the other companies who made the list. He said achieving the status of ‘great’ was a group effort that required everybody’s energy, enthusiasm and engagement.
