Topaz raises over 280K for Aware
Topaz customers and staff have raised over 280K in the past two years for their charity partner Aware.
As well as fundraising, the partnership aims to promote positive mental health and to highlight the important services that Aware provides. In the month of September alone Topaz staff nationwide raised over 17,000 through a variety of fundraisers for Awares Beat the Blues Campaign.
Topaz brand ambassador Alan Quinlan, who has himself experienced depression, was on hand in Cashel recently to support staff in their fundraising efforts. Five year old John Fitzgerald from New Inn is pictured with his dad – also John -making a donation to the former Munster and Ireland rugby international. About Beat the Blues
With almost 75% of all serious mental health difficulties first emerging between the ages of 15 and 25 (Headstrong, 2011), Aware believes it is vital to educate young people about how to recognise symptoms of anxiety and depression and where possible prevent it from spiralling. The Beat the Blues programme helps teenagers understand the importance of looking after their mental health and helps them to build resilience and coping skills. The Beat the Blues positive mental health programme costs the organisation 6 to deliver to one student.
