Killarney family strikes oil as they win free fuel for a year

€20K package means free petrol, home heating and coffee for three lucky people

Free fuel for a year

A Killarney family has literally struck oil after winning free motor fuel and home heating oil for a year in Topaz’s Play or Park loyalty game.

Michael Dineen, a chartered civil engineer said he was delighted and surprised when he heard he’d won September’s prize of free fuel for a year for three people.

The forty one year old, who’s originally from Cúil Aodha, near Macroom in County Cork has been living on the Cork Road in Killarney for 12 years with his wife Jacinta and three children.

Michael who runs his own company, MF Dineen & Co Ltd, a chartered engineering consultancy, said the free fuel for a year prize was the one which caught his eye.

“I do a good mileage every year so that was the one I went for. The game is well structured and easy to play so I accumulated my points and said I’d try my luck. I’ve won a few things before so I’d consider myself lucky enough. Still I didn’t hold out a a whole lot of hope and I was very pleasantly surprised when I got the call from Topaz“

And who are the other two lucky winners going to be? “Well we haven’t fully decided that yet. We might have to hold a few interviews with family members” he joked.

Laura Murphy, Loyalty Manager with Topaz said everyone at Topaz in Killarney and around the country was delighted for the Dineens and wished them a very warm winter as well as many happy miles of free motoring with Topaz efficient fuels.

“Play or Park is our new loyalty game and it’s all about rewarding regular customers like Michael. Every month we are giving away fantastic prizes.

For example the October prize is the chance to fly two loved ones home for Christmas from anywhere in the world plus €12K  to spend on gifts. Again the total prize value is €20K. So we are expecting a lot of interest in that game” Laura said.

Topaz, which is the country’s largest fuels and convenience retailer, launched Play or Park in early February and already 175,000 people have registered to play it.
